Kindervogelschießen!

So you're probably wondering what Kindervogelschießen means. It means something to the effect of kids shoot the bird. Vogelschießen (Shoot the Bird) is an old German festival. Now a days, they only celebrate it in the grade schools, hence why it is now, kids shoot the bird. The would have a lard wooden bird on a post up high, and then all the towns folk would try to shoot it. The person to shoot the last part of it, was the king of Vogelschießen that year. In memory of that, the adults still shoot the bird (which I got to do) and the kids in the elementary picks kings and queens from each class. Then they have a parade, which was interesting since the elementary is only for our neighborhood so they went up the main road and then back down it, and everyone that watched were parents of the kids so the walked with the parade, therefore I did as well!

The parade was olympic themed so they had everyone carrying flags from all the different countries (although they seemed to shy away from the American Flag...) The little bands were cute.

She's quite the little ham!

They were in different groups, so this was the martial arts group, there was swimming, running, soccer of course!

She really went crazy at the dance for kids....

Just a fun picture of Germans at a German festival. Since I am in Germany. Speaking German!

I liked this kids shirt because that's a real German player and v in German is f. So that is pronounced fan der fart! Just some fun for you all!

Like father like son. What you don't see is that on the other side of the table is the third mulletier to this lovely family!

There were about 30 kids there that came in full soccer garb. This is not out of the ordinary to everyday. I went to a store today, and at the checkout there were about 5 boys, all with different parents and obviously not together, all decked out for soccer. Crazy fußballers...

So now we come to shooting the bird. It was a lot of fun. And apparently I am a natural because I did the best out of the people down there at that time. Not one of my dart thingys didn't hit the bird!

What I shot with!

Whenever Majlie has the camera she likes to go into photographer mode so every few minutes she tells me to smile and pose.
We were having a little party down by the bird!
Yay for Kindervogelschießen!

Kleiderspielen!

So these are just some fun pictures since there is nothing going on right now. Everyone has been really sick here and so we haven't been doing anything. Actually, we took Dagmar into the hospital today so she's really not doing well. But the girls and I are having a lot of fun together. So they have been very taken lately with playing dress up in my room. So these are some pictures of a photo shoot with me and Majlie. She wanted to be a top model like Heidi Klum.

She wasn't prepared and I snapped it anyway, therefore a little awkward!

The Germans are not much better coming up with poses than most of Asia with the whole obsession with thumbs up....

Very chic! So yeah, just a little bit of fun. We don't have anything exciting coming up until our trip to Berlin this summer. So I still have no idea when that is. But Dirk should be booking our trip to Malloka soon!!! Yay!

So yeah, everything is good here. Just wanted to say hi! Auf Wiedersehen!

TEMPEL!!!!

No, the heading of this blog is not spelled wrong, it's temple in German. I'm not THAT bad of a speller, even though I know some of you are shaking your heads at that....

So these are were we stayed for the trip. It is a boy scout camp. Apparently they have English camps too because I saw pictures of some boy scouts sitting in chairs and written on the chalk board were English boy scout things. Pretty cool.

The scenery was really pretty, I never got a chance to take good pictures of the land, but I hope that it's not the last time I go. The further south you go the prettier it gets. It was absolutely gorgeous. It's pretty much the prettiest place I have seen with my own two eyes.

So you can't see it well, I was still on the bus, so this is a moving photo, but that's all there was to this town. I took a picture of it because that's how EVERY town was on the way. It was all very much like I had originally pictured Germany to be. The milkmaid idea kind of thing...

This proves I spelled it right!

It was a beautiful warm day and the temple is SO pretty. Different set up than American ones, but very pretty.

This is looking out at the town from the temple grounds. The temple is seriously RIGHT in the middle of this tiny town. So it's just one a small hill, surrounded by the houses and streets too small for two cars, or one bus. I have no idea how our driver managed it.

So the building to the right is where you actually go in. No one goes in through the temple doors. You go through this under ground tunnel to get to the temple, which is on the left (after you have gotten house shoes of course.) So yeah, it's a little different.

We were packing up to leave and Jessi was making beautiful faces at me. (That's Jessi as is Yes - ie)

Jessi, Emily and I (Emily is the other American Au Pair) we decided it wasn't pretty enough behind us so then came the next picture.

So I really like this picture, but there is a story. So this is the eventual outcome, but we asked one of our friends to take the picture so he was like playing the Photographer role and was like, ok, stand like this and do this, no look this way. And so he took the picture with Emily's camera so I don't have it but it looked horrible. We were all standing like in a line, and had to look down the hill, away from each other. It was totally a retarded picture, so we teased him about it from then on!

We decided it lookes like she was asking for her autograph, again they were making really funny faces that I didn't get my camera out in time for. I was really slacking photo wise on this trip...

This is us and Aaron, the guy I spent most of the time with. He spoke really good English and he was really cool.

We had to get Jessi in there. The the guy in the way back decided he better get in too!

It was soo much fun! I loved it! The Tagungs (what we call this sort of thing) are really fun. We don't really have a whole lot like them in the states...but it was a lot of fun!
