Kindervogelschießen!

So you're probably wondering what Kindervogelschießen means. It means something to the effect of kids shoot the bird. Vogelschießen (Shoot the Bird) is an old German festival. Now a days, they only celebrate it in the grade schools, hence why it is now, kids shoot the bird. The would have a lard wooden bird on a post up high, and then all the towns folk would try to shoot it. The person to shoot the last part of it, was the king of Vogelschießen that year. In memory of that, the adults still shoot the bird (which I got to do) and the kids in the elementary picks kings and queens from each class. Then they have a parade, which was interesting since the elementary is only for our neighborhood so they went up the main road and then back down it, and everyone that watched were parents of the kids so the walked with the parade, therefore I did as well!

The parade was olympic themed so they had everyone carrying flags from all the different countries (although they seemed to shy away from the American Flag...) The little bands were cute.

She's quite the little ham!

They were in different groups, so this was the martial arts group, there was swimming, running, soccer of course!

She really went crazy at the dance for kids....

I liked this kids shirt because that's a real German player and v in German is f. So that is pronounced fan der fart! Just some fun for you all!

Like father like son. What you don't see is that on the other side of the table is the third mulletier to this lovely family!

There were about 30 kids there that came in full soccer garb. This is not out of the ordinary to everyday. I went to a store today, and at the checkout there were about 5 boys, all with different parents and obviously not together, all decked out for soccer. Crazy fußballers...

So now we come to shooting the bird. It was a lot of fun. And apparently I am a natural because I did the best out of the people down there at that time. Not one of my dart thingys didn't hit the bird!
